DAVID SHAPELL Obituary

SHAPELL--David.

The leadership, staff, and worldwide community of the Weizmann Institute of Science deeply mourn the passing of our dear friend, David Shapell. Mr. Shapell was a passionate supporter of Israel and the Jewish people. He was devoted to Holocaust remembrance and education. Though we have lost an inspiring advocate and valued International Board and President's Circle member, David will be long remembered through his exceptional contributions to the Weizmann Institute: the David and Fela Shapell Family Holocaust Memorial Plaza, the David and Fela Shapell Family Institute for Preclinical Studies at the Nancy and Stephen Grand Israel National Center for Personalized Medicine, and the David and Fela Shapell Family Center for Genetic Disorders Research. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Fela; his daughter Rochelle Shapell and son-in-law Lorne Buchman, son Benjamin and daughter-in-law Susan Shapell, and son Irvin and daughter-in-law Kathy Shapell; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to the entire family. May David's memory be for a blessing. Ellen Merlo, Chair, American Committee Dr. Jay A. Levy, President, American Committee Marshall S. Levin, Executive Vice President & CEO, American Committee Janis Rabin, Executive Director, Southern California Region Prof. Daniel Zajfman, President, Weizmann Institute of Science Abraham Ben-Naftali, Chair, International Board
