Gabriel Greco was my uncle, the brother of my father who passed away almost 50 years ago. The trauma of that death tore the fabric of my family life apart and I haven't spoken to that side of my family in many years. However, I have thought of them often. My uncle, who we used to call Bob, and my aunt, Rosalie, were kind enough to try and stay in touch with me and my siblings for a number of years after their brothers death and provide some kind on parental and familial continuity. I remember Uncle Bob taking me to a Yankee game. I think it was the World Series against the Cardinals in 1962 where, a now aging, Mickey Mantle hit a towering home run to win the game. I remember Thanksgivings at his apartment in Chelsea with Aunt Norma, his wife. I loved going into Manhattan and their parquet floors. I always had alot of respect for him as a man and what he accomplished in his profession. I know it is a source of pride in the family. My condolemces to his immediate family, espeacially Aunt Norma, who I was very fond of, and Aunt Rosalie, who I was very close with.
