MILLER--George, M.D.,

passed peacefully on September 11, 2018 at age 95. George was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Bernard and Saul, and sister, Hannah. Born July 30, 1923 in Bronx, NY to the late Samuel and Bessie Miller, George was the beloved husband for 62 years of Roslyn (nee Egelka) of Lido Beach, NY and NYC, dear father of Nancy (and David) Michaels of Scarsdale, NY, Donald (and Jill) Miller of Larchmont, NY, and Stephen Miller, and adored Papa of Debra, B.J. (and Sara), Emily, Ari, and Jordana. George was a brilliant cardiologist who loved his friends and family and was beloved by all who met him. George graduated NYU College of Arts and Sciences in 1944 as Vice President of his class. He graduated from NYU School of Medicine in 1947 and completed his cardiology fellowship at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as Assistant Chief of the Cardiovascular Division at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, CA, and was discharged as a Captain. George was an attending physician at Long Island Jewish Hospital and afterward opened a private practice in Long Beach, NY. He was the Chief of Medicine at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Upon retiring from private practice in 1993, George spent the next 10 years as the Director of Medical Teaching Programs at LBMH teaching cardiology to New York Institute of Osteopathic Medicine students. George was loved by his patients and his students for his exemplary care, warmth, bedside manner, and thoughtfulness. He enjoyed theater, travel, playing cards, and walking on the Boardwalk.
