Daniel Hyser Obituary

YORK Daniel Theodore Hyser, 52, died September 27, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Julie A. (Forry) Hyser. Born in Hanover, on April 23, 1960, he was the son of Shirley Leona (Crone) Hyser of York and of the late Benjamin Leroy Hyser. Dan graduated from Spring Grove Area High School in 1978 and he served in the U.S. Army in the early 1980s. He worked for his father's snack delivery business. Over the years, he was also employed with McCrory's distribution department, Stauffer Biscuit Co. and the York Hospital where he worked in security and patient transportation. After losing his leg in a motorcycle accident in 1986, he was an inspirational speaker for organizations and amputee groups. He was a member of the York Roadrunners Club. Dan and his father ran in marathons and he enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball, and basketball. In addition to his wife and his mother, he leaves his brothers, Benjamin Leroy Hyser, Jr., David Eugene Hyser, and Jeffrey Allen Hyser and his wife, Abby; a niece, Casey Lynn Hyser; a nephew, Justin Peter Hyser; aunts and uncles. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem, PA 17371. Visitation with the family will be 1 to 2 p.m. at the church that day. Officiating will be Reverend Marshall H. Gante with burial in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery.

Shirley and Julie,

What a shock this is - Shirley, I just talked to you last week at the retirement dinner about how Dan was doing. He was always very cheerful when he came to 4S for transport, and then when he worked in Security, he always had a smile. I am so sorry for your loss.

I knew Dan back in the 80s when he was running with his Dad and the Road Runners group. I also knew him while he was employed at York Hospital. I enjoyed being with him for his enthusiasm for life and his positive attitude.

I worked with Dan years ago in Patient Transport he was a very nice co-worker I enjoyed my time working with him.
