JAMES LOWE Obituary

LOWE--James Peck "JP", passed away unexpectedly September 4th. "He was a prince in my heart," his mother says, and a gentleman to all who knew him. JP made the NYC area his home, but never lost his roots in Kentucky. A University of Louiseville graduate in biology, he worked in neurodiagnostics for 30 years, most recently as a neuroscience specialist at Atlantic Health, admired by his colleagues. He was excited to begin a new role in neuroscience education just before his death. As a child, his grandmother, Paula Peck Louden RN, was his greatest influence, inspiring his interest both in medicine and fishing. He was equally comfortable with an artist's brush, like his mother, Kay Lowe Masuhr, Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Arts under Gov. John Y. Brown. His son Henry says, "JP brought spirited passion to everything he did, especially when it involved life's simpler pleasures: every genre of rock, college basketball and football, and the deep sea." His son Austin writes, "Dad was passionate about the American project and wanted to right the inequities he saw in the world. He served a critical medical role in the pandemic. He taught me to be passionate, curious, and to pursue justice." JP is survived by sons, Austin Lowe and Henry Lowe, with Dr. Mary Sciutto; a daughter Carmen Noltymeyer Williams; his mother Kay Lowe Masuhr and Burkhard R. Masuhr; Ann Kyle Lowe Houghton, Bruce Kirby Lowe and John Louden Lowe. His life ended too soon! Donations in his name welcome to St. Ignatius Loyola School, 48 E 84 St, NY, NY 10028.
