JOAN MCKAY Obituary

McKAY--Joan. Beloved sister, aunt, and friend passed away suddenly on July 28th at her home in Manhattan. Joan was born on August 2, 1950 to John and Pauline Keeling and grew up in Brooklyn with her three sisters. After college, she worked at a New York brokerage firm ultimately becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst. She enjoyed many years as a successful financial analyst. After she retired from Forstmann-Leff & Associates, Joan was ready to spend more time with her family and pursue her varied interests. She enthusiastically embraced this new stage in her life. Her love of music was infectious. She studied piano, sang in a choir and attended theater and opera regularly. She shared her interests with many friends who became part of her extended family. She doted on her niece and three nephews and was their mentor and friend. They will always remember her cheerfulness and kindness and keen sense of humor. They were truly her children and they adored her. Joan was extremely generous and her spirit lives on with the many people whose lives she touched. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen, her brother-in-law, Andrea, her niece, Carla, nephews, Dan, Andrew and his spouse Jillian and their baby Colette, and Kevin and his spouse, Kara; and close friends Miles and Lisa. She was the light in our lives and will be greatly missed by all of us. There will be a service honoring her life at a later date.

Joan was a wonderful person, cheerful and generous, and a wonderful supporter of the Cornwall Library. We will miss her.
