To the family of Leonard Farbman,
I was so very sad to hear this news today. My name is Andy Jackson and while unfortunately I never was able to meet Leonard in person I spoke with him on the phone many times in the past few weeks. I am an employee of Carnegie Mellon University and, like Leonard, an alum of the school. My position at the University is to outreach to alum's and keep them engaged with the University. I had come across Leonard's information and thought I must see him to discuss what the University was like when he was in college and hear his wisdom regarding CMU. We spoke on the phone a few times to arrange a meeting and I was to come visit him on January 17th. I came to Leonard's building that day, after confirming with him the day before, but the doorman informed me that Leonard was not feeling well. I left a little CMU gift for Leonard and was on my way. I am so very sad to have learned of his passing and that we will not get to have that conversation I was so looking forward to. Our few phone calls will always have an impact on me. I remember when I explained who I was to him his response was very simple. "I would always be happy to meet with another CMU graduate."
I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Farbman family on behalf of his Alma Matter Carnegie Mellon University. If there is anything I can do for any of you please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Andy Jackson
