Linda Doman Obituary

1947 - 2014
Obituary – Linda Lee Rudloff Doman

Linda Lee Rudloff Doman, passed away on April 26th, 2014.

Linda was born Feb 18th, 1947 in Green Cove Springs, Florida to Mildred Edwards Hawkins Rudloff and Lyle Lawrence Rudloff. She grew up in Florida and Rhode Island and graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University. Linda moved to New York City in the mid 1970's.

On September 12th, 1981 Linda married John Doman, born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, in St. Barts Church on Park Ave in New York City. For the past thirty five years they have made their home in Brooklyn Heights, NY.

She was extremely creative and artistically gifted. She designed accessories which included handmade hats, bridal veils and jewelry which were sold in exclusive stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Vera Wang. Her talent didn't end there. Linda added a unique and inventive flair to everything she touched: decorating, cooking, gardening, and being the most gracious party hostess. Linda was an animal lover and often helped find wonderful homes for abandoned animals. Her career led her to various positions in media, publishing, and licensing. She has worked for many years at Time Warner, most recently at The Cartoon Network in New York.

Linda is survived by her husband John, her son Mark Rudloff, her grandchildren Alison and Andrew Rudloff (her grandson William predeceased her), her sister and brother-in-law, Delores Hawkins Viarengo and Robert Viarengo, her brother and sister-in-law Lyle and Catherine Rudloff, her brother Louis Hawkins and nieces and nephews Leslie, Steven, Elissa, Lyle, and Renee.

Linda was a special person and left us too soon. I miss her every time I think of her Dad and her. She was so kind and thoughtful. I am sure she is in a better place and enjoys watching her family silently and with love.

I am one of the many whose kindness and thoughtfulness your life touched from as early a time as that spent by us and our classmates at Ponce de Leon Jr. High School and Coral Gables Senior High School. It was there in orchestra class (and in Modern Dance) that I felt you were destined for the artistic and creative. I'm bereft with grief for your passing at this time and for those who are your family and friends. I didn't attend the high school reunion because it was reported that you (and another classmate) would not be there, though no reason was given. You wrote a heartwarming note to me in the Cavaleon (the yearbook). My words are few and inadequate; but I assure you that "auld acquaintance" is most certainly not forgot. I know all whose lives you touched will remember you with the speed of thought.

Linda was such a sweet, sprightly woman. My girlfriend and I are glad we got to spend some time with her at her Niece Mary Kate's baby shower recently. Our hearts go out to her family.

Linda, You were always part of our extended family. We are forever connected through our husbands and my children. Emma remembers your visit to Fairfax and romping on the lawn when she was ten-years-old and you taking photos of her. I have always cherished these photos. The yard was so beautiful that day and John was trying to get a tan for his next casting call. He even ran out to get a tube of Bain-de-Soleil. You relaxed and spent quality time with Emma and she will always remember you for that. You were a loving mother, wife and friend. You are loved and you will be missed. Save us a seat in heaven. Love, Elizabeth Bundschu-Mooney

Linda was a warm, friendly, wonderful neighbor. Whether she was out walking on the street, attending to flowers in front of her house, or getting onto a crowded rush hour train, she always had time for a smile and a chat. She will be missed. Our thoughts are with her and her family.
