Lou was a force of nature with a zest for life that was unparalleled. He has set an awesome example of someone who lived life to the fullest and made the most of every opportunity. He leaves a huge legacy with 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grand children (and another on the way). I'll miss you, Dad.

Your Daughter-in-Law,

Lou was one of the nicest men I ever meet. Although I did not know him very well, he would always have something nice to say especially when he compared my forehand to Jimmy Conners. The world is a lesser place now that he is gone.

I have always had fond memories of the entire Bender family-it was my second home during high school. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Lou Bender's family at this time. May the memories you have be a source of great comfort to all of you. Carl joins me in letting you know we are thinking of everyone at this sad time..
Love,

A gentle and wonderful man. A fellow New Yorker who was both "street wise" and intellectual. It was an honor to know you and be a friend.

Lou was an amazing man who lived a life that very few of us will be lucky enough to enjoy. Beyond his achievements, he was always caring and sincere, and could hardly be found without his famous ear-to-ear grin. I will always remember him, and try to live up to his example of passion and a lifelong strength of spirit.

His loving grandson,

I WAS ONE OF LOU'S TENNIS FRIENDS. HE WAS THE NICEST MAN I HAVE EVER KNOWN. HE HAD A VERY GOOD MEMORY. HE WOULD REMEMBER THINGS WE DISCUSSED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL. PLEASE EXTEND MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY. REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES.
