MARTIN KARP Obituary

KARP--Martin. Martin Karp, born June 27, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away at age 95 on December 29, 2018. A deeply devoted and much beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle, Martin delighted all who knew him with his wit, charm, and extraordinary culinary skills. Martin served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he met his future wife of 72 years, Margot, nee Neuding, at a USO club in Frankfurt, Germany. Together they settled in Brooklyn and then in Long Island City, where they raised their daughter, Carol. After retiring from the garment industry, Martin continued to live life to the fullest with long bike rides across Queens and Manhattan, frequent trips to The Met and MoMA, strolls and row boat rides in Central Park, and an endless pursuit of knowledge. Martin will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margot Karp, daughter, Carol Karp, granddaughter, Sarah Karp and son-in-law, Victor Glushko. Services will be held on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel 1076 Madison Ave New York, NY followed by a private Shiva.
