Maurice Stack Obituary

STACK-Maurice D. Of Point Lookout, NY and West Palm Beach, died November 3. Loving and beloved husband of the late Catherine (O'Connor), loving father of Mary Jane Platt, Eileen Hennegan, Peter Stack and Clare Richer and beloved ``Maury'' to eight grandchildren. He was the son of the late Maurice and Margaret Stack, and brother of the late Marie Stack. He graduated from LaSalle Academy, attended the University of Notre Dame, received a BA from Manhattan College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served in the Army during World War II as a Major in the Corps of Engineers. He retired from the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company as Chairman of the Finance Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees. Other business-related activities included board positions with the Union Square Savings Bank, United States and Foreign Securities Corporation, and membership in the American Bureau of Shipping. He was very active in a number of charitable boards including St. Vincent's Hospital, the Investment Committee of the United States Olympic Committee, the Pension Committee of the Sisters of Charity, the boards of the College of Mount St. Vincent, Havens Relief Fund Society, the National YWCA, and the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. He was a Knight of Malta and a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He was a true gentleman and he will be missed by his family and friends. Reposing after 2PM Saturday at Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28 NSS Pkwy.), Wantagh. Funeral Mass Monday, 10:30AM, at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal RC Church, Point Lookout, LI. Interment Calverton National Cemetery, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center Foundation, 170 W. 12th St., SPB 125, NY NY 10011. Family will receive friends Saturday 2-5PM and Sunday 2-5 and 7-9PM.
