MICHAEL HARKINS Obituary
64, of New York, NY, passed away on August 2nd, 2018 at his home in Southampton, NY. Michael was born in North Bellmore, NY to Catherine and Donald Harkins on December 12th, 1953. He went on to earn a degree in Economics from Cornell University. He founded his money management firm, Levy Harkins, with Edwin Levy when he was 26 and successfully ran it until his death. Michael is survived by his wife, Michele Beiny Harkins, his two children Ian and Eliza, his sister Donna Hannay, his nieces Capron Levine and Blaike Hannay, and his nephew William Hannay. Michael lived in a world of ideas, and will be remembered as a great conversationalist and bon vivant. He commanded any room with his quick wit and extraordinary memory. His quarterly investment letters were the talk of Wall Street, as were his numerous TV appearances as a talking head. He loved finance and his daily stack of newspapers; however, he was always happiest in Southampton and sailing in Gardiner's Bay. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at The Metropolitan Club on September 17th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Brockett's Funeral Home will be handling the funeral services.

Michael, I always enjoyed our spirited conversations at the Club. Your command of the English language amazed and entertained me many an evening. But what warmed my heart was your love of Michele and your children, always so very proud of their accomplishments.
