Murray was always like an uncle to me, so kind and caring. I know with others he liked to debate and challenge but with me he always seemed curious about my ideas and encouraged me in my sometimes eccentric pursuits.

My beloved Dad left many priceless legacies; the importance of education was highest up on his own list of acknowledged values. Yet my Dad's ethics, implemented in his life, are of equal significance. Even in the most adverse circumstances, he was a man of reason, courage, and dignity.
We know that he suffered immeasurably during the Holocaust. We also know that he accepted his fate bravely and unselfishly. In his own bitter fight for survival, he did not forgo his humanity or his morality. In spite of terrible punishment by the sadistic Nazis, his integrity remained intact. He chose, even in extreme servitude, to act with compassion. He did not fall victim to the degenerating influences of the lager, nor to despair.
My Dad bequeathed us a lesson about right conduct and right action, about making right choices and living with right principles.
Murray Berliner's life was a meaningful example of nobility and honor. Here lies a mentsh.

Uncle "Mottik" was a living crossection of last century's Jewish history. Raised in a very traditional home, his inquiring mind needed to explore the fulness of the world around him, and his heart raged at a world so saturated with woe and injustice. As his century of life began closing, thse different worlds began to weave together.
this is how I will remember him: Strong of body, unyielding intellectualy, passionate about the human condition ; all wrapped around the warmest and tenderest of Jewish hearts

Hannah, I did not know this site existed. My earliest memory of mu Uncle was in Ferndale, NY, where your Aunt, my Mom, spent her summers. I still remember how full of life Murray was as he tried to teach all of us how to play "football" (Soccer). That is how I will always remember him.

My childhood memories are full of Mr. Berliner. We shared holiday dinners, passover seders and fourth of july bbqs and fireworks at the high school. I remember Mr. Berliner helping me down the bleachers after the fireworks. My children also have fond memories of Mr. Berliner taking them out to dinner in Florida. He was a kind, gentle man. He will be missed, rest in peace.

Uncle Murray will always be remembered for his zest and cheerfulness. It is somewhat of a consolation to me, that in the last decade, I saw to it to meet with him (and his wife and children) every time that I visited the USA. The unprecedented meeting in Monsey several years ago of the four Berliner siblings was especially enlightening, as he opened up and related facts about the Berliner family in Poland. It is a solace to us all, that he leaves over a wonderful wife, children, and grandchildren!

Murray had his past seared in his flesh, yet was never bitter. Instead of anger, he always evinced in our presence generosity and kindness.

My deepest sympathies go to Mrs. Berliner, my good friend Hannah and all the family. Mr. Berliner was always so kind to me when I would spend time at his house when Hannah and I were in college together. It's obvious that he was a very strong man and his strength lives on in his children and grandchildren.

We are deeply moved by the passing of your dad, Murray Berliner. I remember especially when he would bring me outfits from Crazy Horse. I wore them with great pride. Sy and I would enjoy talking to him whenever we would see him and your mom. He was a very special man. He will be missed.

Murray Berliner, my cousin, a man of courage, grit, perserverance, good sense, and sunny disposition. You had very good and very bad times in your life. Making a new life after surviving the Holocaust, you took pride in the accomplishments of your children, and cherished the love of your family. You will be missed by all that knew you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all. Uncle Murray will be missed by all of us. As a survivor his life was truly cyclical, with good times followed by bad times followed by good times, over and over again. I only wish we had had the opportunity to talk about some of his life experiences. But I know that he is now at peace.
