Patricia Glendon Obituary

GLENDON--Patricia Evers, 83, of Cape, Elizabeth, ME died on April 11, as the result of a stroke. Patricia lived most of her adult life as an avid New Yorker, while enjoying summers at her home in Avondale, RI, and resided in Reno, NV for five years. Patricia was a graduate of Barnard College and received her Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island. She penned the popular advice column "Teen Talk" for the World Telegraph and Sun in New York City in the early 1950s. She was also an author, notably as a ghostwriter for legendary heavyweight champ Joe Louis's book "How to Box." Her writing for the Reno Evening Gazette was recognized with numerous awards including "Most Outstanding Journalist in Nevada" and her series, "The Drop Out", was entered into the U.S. Congressional Record. She was a past president of the New York Junior League Sustainers, and a member of both the Newswomen's Club of New York and The Society of The Silurians. She is survived by her son Teg Glendon and wife Susan Sloane of South Portland, ME; son Richard Glendon and wife Suzanne Sepe of North Haven, CT; three loving grandchildren, Ennis Glendon, Estelle Glendon and Acadia Crouse, to whom she was a devoted grandmother; and Jean Keller, mother of Ennis and Estelle.
