RICHARD HOLMAN

HOLMAN--Richard Lee, died from complications of lung cancer and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) on March 7, 2016 in New York City. Born in McCook, NE, he was a beloved husband, son, brother and uncle, and was a journalist all of his life. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he worked for the Lincoln Journal Star; the Monterey Peninsula Herald; Time, Inc.; the Wall Street Journal, Morgan Stanley; and HSBC Bank. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was president of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and until his death, served as a Foundation Trustee for the University of Nebraska Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Margaret M. Holman; his half-siblings Benjamin Holman, Sandra Bennett and William Holman, and cousins Rick and Kathy Cartell, Nick and Christine Bettes Cartell and nieces Amy Deutsch Khoury and Laura Deutsch Brown. A superb editor and a voracious reader, he was a true gentleman with a subtle sense of humor.
