Sander was a noted mentor, author, and thought leader. Along with writing more than 100 columns for various industry journals, he also wrote seven books, including, a best-selling business book, "The 100-Mile Walk: A Father and Son on a Quest to Find the Essence of Leadership" co-written with his son, Jonathon. This soon was followed in 2009 by another best-selling book - "Big Shoes: How Successful Leaders Grow into New Roles." Sander sponsored The Flaum Speech and Hearing Clinic at his beloved alma mater, OSU and later created an organization named after his mother, the Rose Flaum Stuttering Foundation to provide scholarships to students without the means to pay for speech therapy. In 2021, Sander published "The Stutter Steps: Proven Pathways to Speaking Confidently and Living Courageously." Although Sander never fully overcame his stutter, he never let it hold him back.
