SANDRA SHAW Obituary

SHAW--Sandra Ainslee, lived life with joy and a witty comment always at the ready. She passed away peacefully at New York-Presby- terian Hospital in New York City on Saturday, December 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of humor, compassion, and dedicated service to others. Born in New York City on April 29, 1939, to Edison and Mildred Shaw, Sandy's journey began on the shores of Lake Lucerne in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Her education at Laurel School, The Grier School, and Colby-Sawyer College laid the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in advertising at Ogilvy & Mather, where she broke barriers as a female executive in the industry. Never one to rest on her laurels, she reinvented herself as a successful real estate broker with Corcoran, where her sharp intelligence and attentiveness to detail served her clients well for over twenty years. Sandy was a quintessentially independent New York woman, living on her own in the city for over sixty years. Those who knew her best will remember her for never taking life too seriously, even as she took her commitments - to her clients, her church, and her beloved cats - very seriously indeed. Her faithful companions, Ozzie and Tiggie, brought nineteen years of joy to her life, reflecting her deep love for all animals. In her final chapter, Sandy was blessed with compassionate care from Girly, Marlene, Patty, and Janet, whose kindnesses touched her deeply. Her wit, warmth, and wonderful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends are invited to celebrate Sandy's life at a memorial service to be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, at The Brick Presbyterian Church at 1140 Park Avenue and 91st Street, where she faithfully served as a deacon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Brick Presbyterian Church in Sandy's memory.
