Beatrice Kurjanowicz Obituary

Beatrice Ann "Bea" Kurjanowicz, 89, of Washington, formerly of Richeyville, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, in UPMC Washington Hospital. She was born December 31, 1935, in Fayette County, a daughter of the late John and Bytha Johnson Parsons. Bea was a 1953 graduate of Centerville High School and was later employed as a waitress at the Nemacolin Country Club, where she then became the banquet manager for numerous years. She dedicated her life and was a devoted employee of the Country Club for 45 years. Mrs. Kurjanowicz was a longtime member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, where she was active in numerous church activities including fish fries, baking and food drives. She was also an honorary member of both the Nemacolin Country Club and Richeyville VFD, where she often worked elections. She was an avid Steelers fan as well as the Beth Center Kick-Off Club. A highlight in Bea's life was attending Super Bowl XXX between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys along with her "Steelerettes", Toots Pagac (her dearest friend, who she considered her sister), Jessie Pagac, Mary Lynn Tarorick and Marge Malanosky. Unfortunately, the Steelers took a loss. Surviving are two sons, Bernie Kurjanowicz (Adriana) of Richeyville, and Bruce Kurjanowicz of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren, Brandon Kurjanowicz of Bethel Park, Lesley Kurjanowicz (Sean) of Vancouver, Wash., Bailey Kurjanowicz of Ashville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Bernard "Sonny" Kurjanowicz Sr., who died March 21, 1999; a son, Keith, who died in infancy; two brothers, Ray Parsons and George Patrick; and her dearest friend, Helen Marie Tworzydlo, who she considered her angel. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 21, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Parish Richeyville Campus, with the Rev. Edward L. Yuhas as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Westland Cemetery. A guest book for the family is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com
