James "Jim" Piper, 83, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in Mercy New Life Hospice. He was born February 21, 1940, in Waynesburg, to James and Daisy Tennant Piper. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, who proudly served his country. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 32 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #30 in Lorain. He also spent much time at the Beaver Creek Hunt Club, of which he was a member. But above all other things, he enjoyed spending time with this beloved family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Jack) Tansey, and Kelli (Jedediah Houghton) Norton; son, James (Joyce) Piper; grandchildren, Jacob Tansey, Seth (Alexis) Tansey, Cassandra (Trevor) Eddy, and Brandon Ochrin; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Valerie (Ron) Scherich, Dora (Charles) Clay, and Relda Litten; sister-in-law, Sally Piper; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Nannie (Clarence) Higginbottom, Mayme (Corb) Johnson, Cicil (Silas) Higginbottom, and Edith (Paul) Hope; brothers, Blain Piper, Reed Piper, and Lonnie (Flo) Willison; and brother-in- law, Wayne Litten. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, in Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 25, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Road, Avon, Ohio.
