I noticed that I had not heard from one of my dearest, closest, oldest friend.... Michael Mathis.

I loved, and still do you love you Michael. As I did your brother Larry.

You, your brother and I, go back to the 1978's Pittsburgh.
I moved to California in June 1982.

Our sweetest Larry passed away.
What a magnificent loss to this earth.
He's loved by me, by many, 4ever....

You and I seemed to get closer even over the years.
I so enjoyed our journey.

There's something to be said about an unspoken connection from the soul, from the heart.

I'm heartbroken now, just hearing the news.
But you, I, Larry....we'll be together again.

I am so blessed that our stars, are paths , did magically cross.

Always...

The Mathis family was my 2nd family growing up in West End and throughout my time in WashPa through the 50s, 60s & 70s. Probably spent more time near their house than my own.
Knew Mike as a young guy and saw him go through the problems with his leg as a child. As insensitive kids, I´m afraid we teased Mike for not keeping up with the guys until we saw the pain he was going through.
Despite that pain and other possible hardships, Mike was consistently upbeat - sincerely the most compassionate, most positive person I´ve ever known. He had a lot of his mother´s wisdom and wit, and both he and Bea were always good grounding points for me finding my way in life.
I have been lucky over the years with the quality of the people in my life. Mike was genuinely one of the best people I have been blessed to know.
I hope those who knew him will embrace the blessing of knowing him.

Mike was always the shining star when you walked into the room....the first thing that struck you was that smile. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. As a high school classmate, I'm proud to say that he was a good friend...but a better person!!....RIP my friend!!

If ever there was a human accepted with open arms by his Lord, it's Mike. I knew him as kind and sweet in high school and the rare reunion I attended where he lit up the room. Wish I could have known him during his very productive adult years.
