Stephen Day Obituary

June 8, 1966 - March 11, 2025 Stephen C. Day Jr., 58, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 11, 2025. His final days were lived to the fullest, alongside his immediate family on a trip to Lake Tahoe, a favorite vacation spot. While on this trip, the family toured points of interest around the lake, explored historic cities, and skied at Heavenly Ski Resort. Steve was born June 8, 1966, in Washington, a son of the late Peggy Day, and Steve Day Sr., who survives. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1984, spending time running cross-country and track. Little did Steve know, this is where he would meet his future wife. He attended Robert Morris College before transferring to the University of Maryland, where he earned his bachelor's degree. After living in Annapolis, Md., he moved back to the Washington area. Steve began his career in the family business, Day Insurance Agency, Inc., where he worked for 32 years as an employee and co-owner of the business. On August 31, 1996, Steve married the love of his life, Lori Ann D'Alesio Day, who survives. They shared 28 wonderful years together as husband and wife, raising three boys, Steve's proudest achievement. His blueprint for parenting was inspired by his parents and in-laws, Elaine and Christopher "Skip" D'Alesio Jr. Steve was so devoted to his family. His life revolved around his boys. Steve never missed a chance to support his kids at events and milestones. He taught the boys to ski, coached their sports teams, guided their shots on the sporting clay course, and instilled in them a love for the outdoors. Steve was known for his unwavering love of his family and friends, his ability to get a laugh out of anyone, and his deep appreciation for recreation. Rebuilding a hunting cabin, assembling a garage, catching up with long distance friends, participating in hunting trips, attempting to fix a headlight before sending it to the shop, having an apres-ski drink in the lodge, bolstering the Trinity Hillers boys lacrosse teams, cheering at swim meets, timing track races from the stands, volunteering for the pony league, tailgating at Penn State football games, spending time with the family's dog, Bo, and setting out beach chairs on vacation were small aspects of Steve that came together to represent the man he was. Steve found joy in family time, whether watching television in the living room or watching the waves crash on Myrtle Beach. He found joy in skiing, whether on the icy slopes of Seven Springs or in the powdery bowls of Heavenly. Steve found joy in golfing, whether it was at an abandoned-mine-themed mini golf course or on an 18-hole course. He found joy in hunting, whether on a mountain face tracking moose and elk or on the farm tracking deer. Most importantly, Steve found joy in being a father. Steve will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Day, who passed away February 15, 2023. Steve's legacy lives on through his three children, Stephen Charles Day III, Christopher Matthew Day, and Tyler D'Alesio Day. He is also survived by his wife, Lori Ann D'Alesio Day; his father, Stephen Charles Day, Sr.; his sister, Mona Jo (Shawn) Blumer; his brothers, Scott (Marna) Day and Neil Day; his in-laws, Elaine and Christopher "Skip" D'Alesio Jr.; and a truly great number of family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 21, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, owner / supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, director, Holly Renay Warco, director. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home from 10 to the 11 a.m. hour of a funeral service Saturday, March 22. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hillers Boys Youth Lacross at P.O. Box 521, Meadowlands, PA 15347; or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 at www.t2t.org. Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com

Steve was a super guy. Was shocked to hear of his passing - so young. At his office, he was the most helpful person and was always pleasant. He surely will be missed. Heaven is getting a super, top-rated person.
