Veronica F. Roberts Chaney

Veronica F. Roberts Chaney, 73, of New Freeport, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, in her home, under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice, and with her family by her side. Born August 29, 1950, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry Strain and Ella Roberts. Veronica was a Greene County resident her whole life. She was a member of the Aleppo Brethern Church. Veronica married Daryl Chaney, Sr. October 18, 1975, and they were happily married for 41 years until his passing in 2017. She was a homemaker and a rural mail carrier for the USPS for most of her life. Veronica enjoyed playing cards, farming, spending time with her grandchildren and friends, joking around and playing pranks on people. She volunteered with the Corner Cupboard Food Bank delivering food to those in need. She is survived by four children, Tim (Missy Riggleman) Chaney, Sr., Carla (Jason) Zaccone, Darla (Timothy) Geracia, and Daryl (Sarah Coffee) Chaney, Jr., all of New Freeport; 11 grandchildren, Nathan Chaney, Tim Chaney, Jr., Brooklynn Chaney, Isaac Chaney, Zachariah Chaney, Brantley Chaney, Cameron Zaccone, Lilli Geracia, Annabell Geracia, Colton Geracia, and Cora Chaney; one sister, Dawn Yeager of Waynesburg; one godson, Shane Matthews of Hundred, W.Va.; her two dogs, Bobo and Jesse; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her child, Marquis Chaney, who died in infancy; and a brother, Chuck Roberts. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 26, in Kesterson- Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359 (telephone: 724-499-5181), where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, with Pastor Lanny Hewitt officiating.
