Alice O'Malley Obituary

Alice Suzanne (Malfait) O'Malley, of Kingwood TX, lost her struggle with acute congestive heart failure on Saturday, March 6, 2016. Born December 18, 1931, in Moline, Illinois, she is predeceased by her parents, Arthur C. and Jennie S. (Vens) Malfait, of Moline, IL and her late husband of 49 years, Arthur Lee O'Malley of Kingwood, TX.

Alice was a homemaker, seamstress, and occasional personal assistant while raising her children. She and her husband, Art, loved the beach and took many trips to different locales. In later years, she belonged to several bridge groups, rode her bike for hours on end through the Kingwood green belts, volunteered for Twyla's Friends, traveled, and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She passed on her love of words and reading to at least 2 of her grandchildren who did their best to beat her at Scrabble, one of her favorite games; but more often than not, Alice was the champ.

Survivors include her three daughters, Kerry (Kenneth J.) Holmes of Kingwood, Kathy Hoover of Kingwood, Kay Torrey of The Woodlands; 5 beloved grandchildren: Brett Hoefling of Nice, France, Jennie Hoefling of Austin, TX, Casey Torrey of Houston, TX, Callee Torrey of Williams, AZ, and Chloe Hoover of Kingwood, TX; her sister, Camilla (Thomas) Marriott, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held on Thursday, 3/10/16, 10:00 am, at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood, TX, followed by a reception at her daughter's home in Kingwood. Alice was an active member of and attended St. Martha's for many years before her illness prevented her from venturing out often.
