George Crist Obituary

George Elliott Crist, age 99, passed away peacefully on November 29. 2021. George was born to Donald and Mary Crist in Tampico, Mexico on July 5, 1922. After receiving an engineering degree from Texas A&M University, he deployed to North Africa, the European Theatre and the Philippines.

Prior to deployment, he married Lillyne Francis Maroney. They spent many happy years raising their three children, Candy Crist (Steve), Connie Crist and George, Jr. (Kathy), all of whom survive him. George was employed by Humble Oil and Refining Company and enjoyed applying his engineering talents during his 42 years there.

George married Glenna Brannigan in 1982 and gained two beloved step- daughters, Beth Murphy (Charlie) and Megan Horvat (Norbert). He and Glenna traveled the globe for over 30 years. They also enjoyed their time traveling the globe, playing tennis and creating lasting memories for their 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A true member of the Greatest Generation, he was known for his terrible puns, his love of education, engineering, golf. tennis, painting, gardening and reading. Most of all he loved his family, and for this we are both lucky and eternally grateful.

In honor of his memory the family asks that contributions be made to the Texas A&M Foundation Corps of Cadets General Scholarship Fund in Memory of George Crist (401 George Bush Dr. College Station, Tx. 77840) or Houston Hospice (HoustonHospice.org).
