Herbert Guy Carr, 88, of Liberty, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was born August 16, 1929 in Daisetta to his late parents, Ray Downs Carr and Elizabeth Cross Carr.
Mr. Carr was a longtime resident of Liberty, was raised in Devers and graduated from Devers High School. He was a veteran and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, was a member of Heights Baptist Church and Liberty Masonic Lodge, where he was a Master Mason. He worked as a field engineer for Baroid and General Crude Oil and later started and operated Carr's Services, Inc., an oilfield service company.
He was preceded in death by his son, Guy Patrick Carr, of Liberty and his sister, Mary Ray Clark of Hull.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Katherine Rose Carr, his daughter, Kim Harris and husband Matt, of Liberty, his grandchildren, Luke Harris, Katie Harris, Lizzie Harris, and Aimee Carr, and his niece, Deborah Clark, of Beaumont.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Gruver officiating. Burial will follow at Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Matt Harris, Luke Harris, Kelvin Klimitchek, Randy Klimitchek, Bubba Gillard, and Barry Graves. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe D. Harris, III and Archie Gillard.
