Janet Marie Sowell, 69, of Splendora, Texas passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015. She was born on Saturday, June 22, 1946 in Stockton, California to Bernard and Mary Irene (Keldsen) Kelly, and later adopted by William Utley, all of whom have preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 45 years John Sowell; son, Travis John Sowell and wife Tara of Cleveland, TX; daughter, Mary Laura Lariviere and husband Ben of New Caney, TX; sister, Dolores Avram and husband Lee of Belton, TX; grandchildren, Kendall Sowell, Baret Ortega, Braddock Lariviere and Maisyn Lariviere; numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Janet had been a teacher for over 30 years, 27 at Splendora ISD, 2 at Goodrich ISD and 3 at New Caney ISD. Her passion was teaching special needs children in a life skills setting, and advocating on their behalf.
A memorial service will be held in Roman Forest at Discalced Carnelite Monastery, 111 Parthenon Place, New Caney Texas 77357 on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 2pm.Saturday August 22, 2015 at 2 pm
