Juan Jose Alvarado was born in Merida, Yucatan October 16, 1941 went home to the Lord's heavenly kingdom on October 4, 2016 in Houston, Texas. Juan leaves behind his loving wife and life partner Rosario after 53 years of marriage. Together Juan and Rosario are responsible for 6 children; Pilar, Anna, Rosalinda, Dina, Juan and Jesse. Along with 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild, whom all adored their loving Papa. Juan arrived in the United States in 1961 with $100 in his pocket and a vision in his heart and mind to start a new life. Juan was a man of hard work. Before beginning his career as a Port of Houston Longshore Man (Local 24) of 35 years, he held jobs as a Ranch Hand at Kings Ranch in Texas as well as a cook at a restaurant with friend David Reyes, who would eventually introduce him to his sister and Juan's future wife Rosario. A man of hard work and determination, Juan also understood the importance of family. He retired in 2000 after 35 years on the job to care for his loving father in his final years ailed with Alzheimer's. To his family and friends, Juan was seen as a counselor, financial advisor, handy man, mechanic and above all a friend to talk to. He and wife Rosario would drop anything in a second to help a soul in need, all one would have to do is ask. When Juan or "Papa" was on the job, we knew what we saw as a problem in our life would be resolved. Papa lived life to the fullest. Never taking a day for granted. From traveling the world with his adoring wife, going to all grandkids endless sporting events and graduations, to prepping dinner to his overly spoiled pets. Juan was not a man who enjoyed a suit and tie, but embraced his Mexican heritage. He will be greeted at the Lord's heavenly gate in his traditional guayabera shirt, which he loved to wear any chance possible. Today we lose the rock of our family but heaven gains the hardest working angel they will ever know. For more information visit, DarstFuneralHome.com

I'm so sorry to hear of Juan's passing. Losing a loved one and good friend is one of the most difficult things we face in life. In this difficult time, remember that the God of all comfort has promised us that soon "ever tear" that we could shed over the tragedies we face here will be wiped away from us.
