Melvin M. Knight, 82, of Cleveland, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016. He was born on Monday, July 10, 1933 in Security, Texas to Earnest Reanon Knight and Zoda Elberta (Parker) Knight, both of whom have preceded him in death. Melvin was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Norma Jean Knight, brothers, James Roland Knight, Earnest Goree Knight; granddaughter, Heather Nicole Pinkard. Left to cherish his memory is his loving children, David Nathan Knight and wife Margaret, Datha Karen Knight, Marcia Knight Smith and husband Mike, James Melvin Knight, Deborah Jean Knight Farmer and husband Jim; sisters, Lillian Scott, Thelma Burrows and husband Wilbur Lee; sister in law, Wanda Knight; grandchildren, David, Melvin, Rachel, Chrystol, Karen, Beckie, Lucas, Robbie, Jamey, Eli, Brandon, Wade, Randy, Jennifer and April; 33 great grandchildren; numerous other loving family and treasured friends.
Melvin was a member of the Tarkington Prairie Masonic Lodge and a 32 degree Mason for over 50 years. A Shriner for over 40 years. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, 2016, from 12 pm. to 2 pm. Funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm. Interment for Melvin will immediately follow at Knight Family Cemetery, 10034 Faulkner Road, in Cleveland, Texas 77328. Leonard Brannon officiating.
All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
