Norma Mosley Obituary

Norma Jean Jackson Mosley, age 89 of Dayton, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015. She was born June 18, 1926 in Tarkington Prairie, Texas to parents Wallace and Agnes Jackson who preceded her in death along with her husband of 58 years, Welton Mosley; brother, Ray Jackson; and sisters, Mattie Curry and Bonnie King.

Norma was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She graduated from Liberty High School then began work at the Houston Telephone Company. She served as church secretary at Forest Oaks Baptist Church in Houston and at the Cleveland First Methodist Church. Mrs. Mosley loved and served God her entire life. She loved her family, church and fellow man. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Israel. She taught children in Sunday school at every church she attended in her lifetime, for more than 50 years. Her goal was to teach them to "love Jesus, love other people and that even if hard times come, they would be all right." She probably touched the lives of at least 1,000 children.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Davis and husband Fleet; son, Travis Mosley and wife Karen; step-daughter, Nina Bowden and husband Jim; sisters, Amy Milam and Sadie Smith; brother, Dewitt Jackson and wife Dorthy; faithful friend and honorary daughter, Darlene Story; grandchildren, Richard Munneke and wife Kim, Matthew Munneke, Fleet (Lee) Davis III and wife Emily, Nathaniel Davis and wife Amanda, Steve Canerday and wife Mary, Lisa McCarter, Scott Canerday and wife DeEtte, Sondra Black and husband Lee, Jimmy Bowden and wife Keri, Rodney Stokley and wife Tina, Richard Stokley and wife Michelle, Shannon Stokley and wife Beverly, and Misty Clark and husband David; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Siena Munneke, Emily and Chris Canerday, Macey and Kaylie Canerday, Madeleine McCarter, Sean Black, Derek Stokley, Rodney Stokley, Cody Stokley, Mark Stokley, Sarah Stokley, Kathy Stokley, Kyle Stokley, Hayley Stokley, Shanna Stokley, Richard Stokley, Kathlyn Stokley, Troy Stokley, Sammy Stokley, Jonathan Stokley, Chandler Fails, Kama Clark and Mila Clark; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Rural Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
