Her two primary occupations were Bank Teller at American National and Allied Humble banks, and Switchboard Operator at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. Shirley was passionate about her faith. She grew up in Humble First Assembly of God Church, being very active in Sunday School and Woman's Ministries. She loved to travel. Las Vegas was a favorite destination in her early years. Branson, MO became her go to place in her later years. In between, she loved traveling with the "Big Dogs"-Helen Smith, Pat Needham, Enid Woodrome, Lorraine Goss and Patsy Dempsey. They went cruising, skiing and sightseeing around the U.S. She loved listening to Gus and the guys play and sing. One of her favorite events was the Humble Good Oil Days, where Gus would always play Blueberry Hill just for her! She loved her family. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her two sisters, Edith and Darlene. They talked almost daily and were always there for one another. I don't remember her ever missing a game or school function of either the two boys. Even when David left home to play baseball at the University of Arkansas, she was always ready for a road trip. She loved going to ball games. Not so sure every umpire was glad to see her or liked he opinion though! Once her two boys started families of their own, she turned her attention to the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She truly was an amazing woman.
