MATTSON, PAUL R., 89
Leesburg - Paul R. Mattson, 89, of Leesburg, FL passed away February 22, 2013.
He was born February 26, 1923 in Lawrenceville, IL to Gilbert W. and Mary Ada (Hanes) Mattson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Velma (Kato) Mattson, his parents, and brother-in-law, Al Ward. Survivors include his daughter Janis (Bill) Miller of Rockvale, TN., two grandsons, Ryan (Jennifer) Miller of Murfreesboro, TN, and Nathan (Larissa) Miller of Pleasant Shade, TN as well as three great- granddaughters, Reese, Rylee, and Isabela (Izzy). Another great-granddaughter is due in July. He is also survived by a sister, Jean Ward of North Barrington, IL and sister-in-law Betty (Virgil) Oliboni of Ocala, FL as well as a niece and three nephews.
He graduated from Lawrenceville (IL) Township High School and attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL before entering the military. He served in World War II and Korea as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the Texaco oil refinery in Lawrenceville, IL and resided in FL the past 25 years.
Interment will be at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, Ocala, FL. In lieu of flowers, online condolences can be made at:
