ZANESVILLE -- Iris M. Maurer, 73, of Zanesville, formerly of Akron, passed away at 5 a.m. Nov. 14, 2008 at her home.
Born October 7, 1935 in Barberton, she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are four sons, Troy, Mark and Kerry (Ellen) Maurer, all of Zanesville and Keith (Cheryl) Maurer of Brownsville; two sisters, Norma Malone of Norton and Marie Corbin of Clinton; and grandchildren, Scott, Jack, Mitch, Richard, Mark, Anjelica, Keith Jr. and Joe Maurer.
Ms. Maurer was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Maurer, who passed away in 1987; her parents, George and Cinderella Bowen McClain; and a sister, Ada Papp.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5838 Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Clinton, Ohio, 44216. DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, 56 South 5th Street, Zanesville, Ohio, is handling arrangements.

I just found out about Iris's passing. i had been calling and went up to the appt's and found out about her passing. she was true and honest person to me. she told me how it was, i cared very much for her.. i love ya iris . you will always be close to my heart.to joe - kerry- mark- keith .. i think of u often sorry for you'r lose. you'r family has been a great part of my life journey that i'm on .. and i thank every one of u.. my toughts and prayers are with you.. i love u guys.. I just seen that iris passed away. Im so sorry. She was a special person in my life . The memories I have of Iris and Jack and family is something I will always cherish in my heart. I just lost my sister cathy on dec 12th. so i know how hard it is for all of us right now. The wonderful memories and the wonderful hope of seeing them soon gives us the strength to get through our sorrow.love to all the family pam frash(knapp)

i have very sweet memories of iris..i was her home health aide for 10 months & in those months , she became very special, we grew close & i loved her alot..i will miss her!! she was a very special person.

Alvin & I have fond memories of Iris and Jack and their home. It seems they always love to see friends and family . The coffee pot was always full and ready. We will see them both in the resurrection Schindler family
