DAVID FISK Obituary

December 15, 1952 - October 9, 2015 EDMOND David Randall Fisk, of Edmond, Oklahoma, died unexpectedly during open-heart bypass surgery on Friday, October 9, 2015. Born to Mary and Harvey Fisk on December 15, 1952 in Dallas, Texas, David was known to many for his distinctive photography. Besides his daughter, David is survived by his three sisters, Rothy Moseley, Heather Myers (Mike) and Jennifer Storz, as well as niece Caitlin and nephews Lary (Allison) and Chris (Kristi) and several great-nieces and nephews. He was well-known locally as a great music-lover, having served as past president of the Oklahoma Blues Society for a few years, so he is also survived by many friends including his best buddy John Bennett, and his traveling companion and closest friend in recent years, Charlene Wolfe, who will miss him dearly. A native Texan and then longtime Oklahoman, David worked for newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma since he first picked up a camera about 1970, and had a knack for finding interesting perspectives in his photography. He was a 1975 graduate of East Texas State University. He was managing editor of The Commerce Journal after college and then moved to Tyler, Texas where he was city editor of the newspaper there. He came to Oklahoma in 1979 as an editor with The Oklahoman newspaper. After retiring from The Oklahoman in 2007, David combined his love of sports with a long-time dream and opened Images Gallery, The Art of Sport on 15th Street, which closed in 2010. Some of his collection can still be seen on facebook.com/Images-Gallery-The-Art-of-Sport.In recent years, Da facebook.com/images-gallery-the-art-of-sport vid spent much of his time traveling the back roads and byways of Oklahoma and the southwest with his camera and unique eye. He loved discovering new places and visiting as many baseball parks as he could, always enjoying along the way a lot of great Barbecue, spicy foods, Rock N' Roll and Blues music, and discovering new people and places. He lived just a few miles from historic Rt. 66 and spent many hours discovering its nooks and crannies. He used many of his own photos along with a selection of images from the Edmond Historical Society Photographic Collection and images from many individuals to tell the stories of some of the interesting people of Edmond, in a book he wrote, Legendary Locals of Edmond, copyright 2014.David grew up in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. He always loved baseball and had fond memories of attending ballgames with his dad at Burnett Field, as well as playing little league. While he often saw his father taking pictures as he grew up, the Oak Cliff Tribune is where David really began his own venture into photography at his first real job. Many old friends from Bishop Dunne (class of '70) and Mountain View reconnected on Facebook. While some did not always agree with the views he posted, they appreciated his passion and his artistic photos - several folks use pictures taken by David in their profiles. He loved to talk about sports and music. Remember the good times.A memorial service will be held Saturday October 17th at 11:00 a.m at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, OK. Matthews Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

I used one of David's old photos in a post for The City Sentinel newspaper this morning, on the twenty-eighth anniversary of the Oklahoma City Building. He was a good man and a great colleague/friend. -- Pat

Four years we've been missing you. Seems like only yesterday we were all at Chris's wedding in Galveston, or having Thanksgiving dinner...

My favorite brother! OK, right, my only brother. Remember walking home from elementary school at St Cecilia's, and taking the bus from Bishop Dunne together. We weren't as close as adults, but it felt good to know you were there with your camera and telling us we better not talk politics, since we rarely agreed about anything political. Now I kind of miss those rants, and know you are still out there in spirit watching over us. Rest in Peace, David. I miss you.

I did not know David. I know his sister Rothy. I am so sorry about the passing of David. My deepest sympathy to all his family and close friends. I enjoyed reading about his life and feel like he enjoyed life and worked hard . Prayers. Sherry Chapman: Rothy Mosley's friend.
