GILBERT BATEMAN Obituary

Bateman, Jr. June 27, 1934 - July 16, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Gilbert Cooper Bateman, Jr. passed away July 16, 2014, at the age of 80. Gilbert was born June 27, 1934, in Newport, RI to Gilbert and Fabiola Bibeault Bateman. He has lived in OKC since 1966. Gilbert retired from the United States Air Force in 1972. After his retirement, he went to work at Fred Jones Manufacturing and retired from there in 1993. Gilbert enjoyed bowling, fishing, eating crab legs, cooking, dancing and having a cold one on a regular basis. He loved watching TV, which included NCIS; westerns, especially Bonanza; and wrestling. Gil looked forward to seeing his family at get-togethers. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, George. He is survived by his wife, Esperanza, whom he affectionately called Hope; four sons, Paul, Bill, Greg, and Dave; four daughters, Terry, Teresita, Evette, and Marie; three brothers, Robert, George, and Ronnie; sister, Connie; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Advantage South Chapel.
