Howard Page Obituary

HOWARD OWENS PAGE Howard O. Page was born January 3, 1919 in Hominy, Oklahoma. He died August 11, 2007 in Portland, Oregon. Howard served in the US Army during WWII as a First Lieutenant of the 37th Engineer Combat Battalion. He landed and fought on Omaha Beach, Normandy as commander of his combat unit, and miraculously emerged from that battle without injury. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Arrowhead for his service in Europe. After the war, he married Margaret (Betty) Hendrickson, returned to Oklahoma and eventually graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He moved to Duncan, Oklahoma in the 50's to raise a family and eventually worked as a design engineer at Halliburton Oil Company. He loved fishing and camping, spending summer weekends and vacations at Lake Texoma with family and friends. During the fall and winter, football was his other avocation. Oklahoma State was his football team and he shared his passion with Betty and their friends by attending games and tailgate parties. Howard spent his last 3 years in Portland, Oregon with his daughter Mary. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Page, and his son Fred E. Page. Survivors include his sister Betty Lynn Naylor, daughter Mary A. Page, one granddaughter and five great-grandchildren.
