Irving BLUMENTHAL Obituary

Blumenthal, Jr. December 14, 1931 - October 15, 2016 EDMOND Irving H. Blumenthal Jr. "Dunnie", 84, peacefully passed away on October 15, 2016, with his wife and family by his side. He was born on December 14, 1931 in Dallas, TX, to Irving H., Sr. and Minnie Blumenthal. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judie; sons, David, Scott, and Kevin, Sr.; daughters-in-law, Melody and Robine; and grandchildren, Lauren, Joel, Kevin II, Katelyn, Kylee, Klara, and Eli; and other loved family members. Dunnie served in the U.S. National Guard and in the U.S. Army 45th Division Special Services during the Korean War. He was the U.S. Army 45th Division Boxing Champion during his years of serving our great country. He was a three time Golden Gloves Champion Boxer and was recently honored by being inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, and The Golden Gloves Hall of Fame. Dunnie went to Capitol Hill High School in south Oklahoma City. He went on from there to graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Business Science Degree and a minor in Finance. He spent a little over one year attending Law School at OU. Due to his father's health condition he was called upon to help in the family's growing transmission manufacturing business, Blumenthal Manufacturing Company which began in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1949. Dunnie, with his strong personality, stern work ethic, and dedication to his family and the company became an extremely successful and influential business owner and industry leader. He loved his company as much as he loved his family and his loyal customers, with over 60 years of service to the organization. His devotion and attention to quality, service, and price showed in all his daily activities. He found enjoyment in giving back to the community by giving generously to many charitable causes, law enforcement organizations, fine arts, and youth athletic associations. Dunnie was a humble, compassionate, and caring person. He was proud of his Jewish heritage and upbringing and would always defend it with great honor. Dunnie was a truly generous and loving man, and a champion fighter all the way to the very end of his wonderful life! He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and many friends and associates all over the country and around the world. A come and go celebration of his life will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20th, 2016, at Blumenthal Companies, 301 S. Western Ave., OKC, OK 73109. Come enjoy lunch and share your memories of Dunnie with the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's or The Wounded Warriors.
