James Strategier Obituary

StrategierAugust 2, 1941 - September 10, 2011 AMARILLO, TX James A. (Jim) Strategier, of Amarillo, Texas, born August 2, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Henry Sr. and Helen Strategier, died September 10, 2011 in Amarillo, and went to be with his heavenly Father after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Jim married Margaret Hughes on July 23, 1982 in Midland, Texas. Jim worked as a plant operations manager in healthcare facilities in several states. He was saved in his midlife and baptized into the Evangelical Free Church. He later worshiped at South Georgia Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by the mother of his daughter, Nancy Nordyke Strategier; his parents, Henry Sr. and Helen Strategier; and a stepson, Jon Hughes.Jim is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; daughter, Shelby Strategier, and companion, Ben Leetch, and his son, Troy, of Fresno, California; stepson, Jeff Hughes and Lori of Ten Sleep, Wyoming; stepdaughter-in-law, Tammie Hughes of Midland, Texas; brothers, Henry Jr. and Donnie and Julia of Norman, Chuck and Sharon of Lawrence, Kansas; sisters, Lou Ann and Gayle Woods of Bar Harbor, Washington, Suzie and Louie Neu of Eufala, and Debbie Baker and Ken of Spring, Texas; and grandchildren, Trista Longshore, Alex Hughes, and Kolter Hughes; great-granddaughter, Brinley Longshore; and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and his faithful companion, Teddy.The family requests memorials to the building fund of South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas 79110; or the Alzheimer's Association, 151 48th Ave SW, Norman, OK 73072. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with his former pastor, Reverend Gene Hill, officiating. Arrangements for Jim and his family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Miss my big brother. Almost 14 years since he went home.You cannot say he didn't love. Misunderstood? Perhaps, but then Jesus was as well. We'll meet again in Beulah Land someday where time won't matter anymore.
