JOSHUA RICE Obituary

Aug. 3, 1982 - Dec. 3, 2015 OKLAHOMA CITY Joshua struggled to find his way through the challenges of life and finally surrendered himself to God in his sleep at home on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. He knew Jesus and committed to follow him at an early age. We know, today, that his trials on Earth, though many, are over and he rests and enjoys life in the loving arms of his personal Savior. How happy we are for Joshua and the peace he now enjoys! Joshua attended Putnam City North High School in OKC and graduated with his GED. Joshua attended Francis Tuttle Technology Center and earned credits to become a Certified Nurse Aid. His kind heart, gentle spirit and empathy to suffering helped Joshua serve his patients in hospitals and nursing homes with respect and love. He was known by his family and friends to be the life of a gathering with an infectious laugh and a smile that could light the room. Joshua is survived by his loving mother, Vicki Scheer; stepfather, Harold Scheer; father, Stacy Rice; sisters, Vanessa Melinson and Erin Vroman; stepbrothers, Rick Scheer and Tom Scheer; grandmother, Velma Rice; uncle, Bryan Rice; aunt, Terry Rice; aunt, Kerri Wint; uncle, David Wint; nephews, Aidan Melinson and Lucas Melinson; and nieces, Abigail Wright and Kaitlyn Melinson. Joshua was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, John & Lovenia Kuhlman and Bill Rice. Anyone fortunate to have known Joshua knew that he loved Jesus with his whole heart. Joshua joyfully entered the Kingdom of God; may he rest in eternal peace. A Viewing for Joshua will be held for visitors 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 at Mercer-Adams, 3925 N. Asbury in Bethany, OK. A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 at the Metropolitan Baptist Church at 7201 W. Britton Rd., OKC. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Joshua's name to youth missions at the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Thinking you, Josh's family, one year after he left us. I pray for all of you, that God would comfort, strengthen and sustain you during these days. I remember Josh as a young boy, all the way up to his young adult years, and always appreciated his heart for God and for people.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills? Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psa. 121

May He help you and all of us as we trust in His love and goodness.
