Roger Martin Simons
June 26, 1942 - Nov. 19, 2020
Roger Martin Simons passed away on Nov. 19, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Ernest & Dorothy Simons. After graduating from Midwest City High School in 1960, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard for six years. After completing his time with the National Guard, he became an electrical engineer for Tinker AFB, where he worked for 42 years until his retirement in 2008. Roger was an active member of Church of the Servant in OKC. He also loved camping, fishing, and making silver jewelry. What Roger loved most of all was being with his family and friends, especially watching his son and grandchildren play sports. He loved unconditionally, and truly touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Eddie. He leaves behind precious and fun memories with his wife, Kathy Simons; son, Mitchel Simons & wife Kandy; sister, Shelly Pitts & husband Danny; son-in-law, Chris Stockstill & wife Sherri; grandchildren, Kade Simons, Kruz Simons, Kendal Stockstill, and Grayson Stockstill; great-grandson, Eastyn Stockstill; and many beloved extended family members and friends. Due to COVID-19, there will not be a memorial service. The family asks that you visit Smith & Kernke's website to sign the guest book for Roger and watch his video tribute when it becomes available. The family would like to extend their thanks to everyone who came to see him at home before his passing; the outpouring of love was very moving to Roger and his family.

I worked with Roger at Tinker for a short while in 1980. What I remember about him most, besides his being a solid gold human being, is that he was funny. I would ask him, "How are you, Roger?" And he'd say with his Oklahoma drawl, "Fantastic, but I'll get better!" He was one of a kind.
