I was saddened to hear of Steve's passing and I wish to express my condolences to his family. Steve and my brother Bruce were close friends and I had the pleasure of playing softball with Steve some years back. I will remember Steve for his competitive spirit and his desire to win. Steve always gave 110% on the field and I was proud to be his teammate. God Bless.

Steve was the love of my life,my husband, the father of my son, and my friend. I have grieved for him during our divorce but knowing that he is not here physically has really left a big hole in my heart. I took it for granted that he would always be there for our son, Derrick. I will truly miss Steve!
As Derrick gets older I see Steve in him everyday.I know he will be watching over us in heaven & I'm happy that he is finally free from all the struggles & pain of life. He has given our son true inspiration & the greatest lesson that life has to offer. Derrick knew that his father loved him & that he was the most important person in his life. Steve made this very clear by the love he gave Derrick. Steve was our son's HERO!
May Steve rest in peace. Love always, Juanita

To my brother, Steve, I LoveYou and know your watching over us in Heaven. Thank you for showing us the example of courage, determination, and the will to live life to the fullest, even after the accident. You're an inspiration to so many people, including those who didn't even know you, but only heard about your struggles and accomplishments! We will cherish our memories and time with you forever.
To my parents, Dale & Sue, I know the last 3 years have been a journey you must have never imagined. All of our lives changed on 6/6/99 and we have become a closer family since that time. Thank you for always being there through all the endless hours in the hospitals, the trips to Dallas, taking Steve from one doctors appointment to another, all the pain/suffering & happy times, the ups/downs that go along with being a quadriplegic, and caring for Steve……along with your family. There were many times I would say, I don't know how they do this, but, then I realize how "Special" you are and how you always give of yourselves, just the same way Christ would give. Thanks for being such Special Blessings to all of us. We Love You !!

My Uncle Steve was one of my role models, because he had many different talents in many sports. He set one of the main examples to all of his family and to his friends, "Do your very best at whatever you want to get better at". He worked so hard to be good at golf, baseball, football, dirtbikes, and motorcycles. Right now, I'm very happy he's in heaven having fun there, and not having to suffer here. I love him very much and I miss him very much.

Steve was a cool uncle. I loved him a lot. On Sundays after church we would always go up to see him at the nursing home. I really liked to talk to him about life and what was going on. I loved him very much, and was hurt to find out that he had passed away. But it was better that he did, because now he is in a better place. I really liked to let him borrow my movies and to talk about them. I wish I could see him again. I will when I go upstairs. I hope he is having a great time up there. STEVE LUV YA BUDDY!!!

Steve's Example:
Jesus grew up a carpenter's son, He learned the trade himself, He also grew up in the temple, learning and absorbing all his family and his heavenly father could teach him about our faith. He also experienced what the world was like at his time in history. At the age of 30, he was called by his father to be baptized and anointed by the Holy Spirit to start a 3-year ministry for his heavenly father. He put his trust in the Holy Spirit and Father, without full understanding of exactly where he would end up, Our Salvation!
Steve, in the same way, grew up learning from his parents and grandparents all about life and his family's faith and trust in God. Taking in all the knowledge he could to help carry him in life, learning a trade, excelling in sports, starting a family, helping to raise his son. Working his hardest trying to be the best he could be with what God had blessed him with.
On June 6, 1999, our Lord, Jesus called Steve to a new mission. A 3-year ministry of selflessness, trust, faith, hope, and love. No one that knew Steve could understand, how & why Steve? Just as the people of Nazareth, who knew Jesus growing up, could not understand or believe that He was who He said He was, the Messiah, the Way, the Truth, and the Light.
It was so hard to accept for all of us, but, no, not Steve. Being the Champion that he is, he accepted the challenge that lay before him. He held up his shield of faith, sharpened his sword, and prepared for the journey & battles. Like a true Knight, Steve led us all, through every trial and test we faced. Always a father, uncle, and friend. Trying to fill each of us with hope and inspiration, not just for him, but for our lives and trials we faced. His faith was a true inspiration for my family and I that God is always with us through all our pain. That Jesus is never more than a stones throw away, as Saint Steven our faiths 1st Martyr, showed us. Steve used the only available access he had to reach out from his bed as Saint Paul did from his prison cell to share his life and his knowledge with us. His computer was his vehicle to touch us all. Steve showed me that he truly trusted God, and at the least, was a dedicated servant to Jesus Christ and his Father's will.
Steve will always be with us. Steve, please watch over us and intercede for us.
I Love You, Your Brother in Christ,
Tim Pranter

Steve was a special friend to me. I was lucky to be a part of some of his greatest memories - his marriage, the time spent with his son and family, all the sporting events we participated in or observed and all the great times we had throughout his live including the time we were roommates back in the eighties in Dallas. I have been closer to Steve as a friend than anyone in my life. I will miss him dearly.
