Pennie Clayson Obituary

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Pennie (Hank) Clayson, 58, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Cuba, N.Y., she was the daughter of Ronald J. and Lola A. Shaffer Clayson of Hinsdale, N.Y.

Pennie graduated from Hinsdale Central School in 1985, Rowan Technical College (RRT) in 1998, Ashland Technical School (AAS) in 2000 and pursued her passion for helping others as a registered respiratory therapist.

Pennie was an extraordinary woman - witty, compassionate and endlessly resourceful. She cared deeply for her family and friends, treating everyone with love and respect. Whether she was playing pickleball, singing Karaoke, hosting game nights or working tirelessly as a respiratory therapist, Pennie's energy was contagious.

Her adventurous spirit shone through her love for motorcycling, hunting, gardening and she brought joy to every space she occupied. She was a devoted wife to Barbara, a loving mother to her son, her stepchildren, and a cherished daughter, sister and friend.

Pennie is survived by her wife, Barbara; her sons, Trever Biggs of Olive Hill, Ky., Samuel (Alex) Pyles of Beechview, Pa., Benjamin (Julz Picard) Pyles of Wilkensburg, Pa. and Sheradan (Ed) Crow of Chicora, Pa.; her mother, Lola Clayson of Hinsdale; her sisters, Sara Coen of Hinsdale and Julie (Chuck) MacNeal of Olean, N.Y.; her sister-in-law, Lisa Clayson; her brothers, William (Nancy) Clayson, Timothy (Vicki) Clayson and Chris (Marsha Holly) Clayson, all of Hinsdale; and her lifelong best friend, Stacey Converse of Olean; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends across the country.

She was predeceased by her father, Ronald J. Clayson; her brother, Victor J. Clayson; and brother-in-law, Robert L. Coen.
