Dear Bruce, Cookie, and Family,
Deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved wife and daughter, my former classmate and friend from St. Joseph's, Beatrice, NE. Lots of fond memories of Carla. Such a beautiful voice! Denny and I were privileged to have her sing at our wedding Feb. 27, 1965. We will never forget her "Ave Maria."
We were in Prague when we saw the sad e-mail announcing Carla' death, so we made a special trip to the Infant Jesus of Prague church to say prayers for the sweet repose of her soul.
May God bless all those that Carla leaves behind,

Carla was a great person to talk to know matter what was on your mind. She was a very caring person and would always smile and ask how things were. She really did make a difference in the life of many young people and I know that was a source of joy to her. She will be missed.

Dear Bruce, Maria, Chistian and your entire family: there was a time I felt I knew you all, even though we never met. I was SO sorry to hear about Carla. We worked closely together at Richard Young. I had intended to contact her about the coming reunion. Now, she will be missing and be missed. She was very special in the way we shared our intense caring for our patients. We became friends and I cannot imagine how much you will all miss her. My thoughts are with you all.

Although we did not know Carla Beardmore-Harding personally, we have known several of the Beardmore family members for 30+ years. At the visitation yesterday, we saw so many people who knew her and will miss her, and it brings to mind a quote from Jackie Robinson. "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” Our sympathies go out to the entire family and all those she touched.

Bruce and family,
I have such a wonderful picture in my mind of Carla the last time I saw her. It was at our class reunion in 2005...she looked gorgeous and I shared my thought on that with her. We sat next to each other at dinner and had such a good time! And that is the way I choose to remember her.
Bruce, I know you have great memories to carry you through this. We are all thinking about you!

Carla was such an inspiration to us when we lost our son, Stephen, in 2001. She had us speak to her HALT class each year and made a special point to remember Stephen and all the positive things he accomplished in his shorten life. Carla was such a positive force in the HALT classrrom and we admired her greatly. We know she has touched many lives and left solid footprints for other to follow. She was a wonderful person and will be missed greatly. But we were BLESSED to have her in our life. Carla, pray for us and we will pray for you and merrily we will meet in heaven. We hope Stephen was there to greet you.

Hi, Carla! :) You had one of the biggest impacts on my life... you transformed me from a little girl into a responsible woman. I looked up to you a lot for all of your own transformations, and how you were able to enlighten young people to do the same as you. You were always available to encourage me and push me in the right direction despite the things that would bring me down. You. Are. Wonderful. And I will miss you much, but you'll be with Michael soon! And I'll be with you again afterwhile. ? ?

It is with the greatest sadness we have to say goodbye to "one of the good ones." The joy surrounding Carla's life is being lived through everyone she has touched. She will be missed, but her life and her work will go on for generations to come.
Thank you Carla for being "you."

Dear Bruce and family,
I was shocked and saddened at Carla's passing. She has left too soon for all of us, and a void that must be filled with memories of a very special friend. I was privileged for thirteen years to have her as my sisterly neighbor and confidante.
I know that Michael will have met her at Heaven's gate and that her sweet light will shine from the beyond.
May God pour his compassion upon you all in this difficult time.

Carla,
You touched the lives of so many people. I remember first meeting you, I couldn't stand you. But then I realized you not only knew me better than half the people I talked to on a regular basis, you helped me more than any of the Westsider's did. You meant a lot to me, and everyone that knew you. You would get me out of Mrs. Serfass's class every Monday(: I'm sorry that we lost touch. I really do miss you. I will come and visit you someday soon.
Rest in Peace, Forever and Always.

Carla…
Today I feel like dying would be so much better than being alive
I don’t know how to live without you by my side
You were always there when things were rough
You took all the pain away when life got too tough
You knew everything that was on my mind
Even when I put up my wall I would hide behind
You broke me lose and set me free
You made me believe I could do anything
Some things I have already achieved
But it’s not the same without you here next to me
You were my biggest fan, always on my team
You made me realize my hopes and dreams
So Carla, I wanted to thank you for everything you did
You took me in and treated me as one of your own kids
You knew somehow that you were the person I needed to come into my world
And since your left all it has done is spiraled and swirled
But I guess this must be goodbye
I love you Carla and I will prove you right!

To Miss Clara, one of the most fascinating women I have ever had the opportunity to meet. Even though our relationship was brief, you were the best sister-in-law that I could ever hope for. I miss our small conversations, your bright smile and lovely outlook on life. It was a pleasure getting to know you and I thank God everyday for that. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family and for the wonderful memories. You will be dearly missed.

Cookie, Bruce, Maria, Christian, Cathy, Tom, Todd, Joe, Rob, Mark, John: I'm your cousin, Paula Beth (Young) Morris. Carla and I have recently reconnected thanks to facebook. I am shocked and saddened beyond words at Carla's sudden passing. . . We all come from strong stock, and she was among the strongest! What a brilliant mind and tender, loving heart! In reading her most recent posts, I'm assuming that this was a respiratory situation that neither she nor you realized. When you think of it, please express my sorrow to Cookie (since she may not see this). I know this has produced a terrible void in the lives of all of you . . . of us. I pray God's grace and comfort for you. My love, Paula

I will miss you so much. I am sorry we won't be together anymore here, but I know I will see you later. Your life was not in vain because you did so much to help your clients and you were a great lady and friend all through high school. Hi to Maria and your family,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom's death.
She helped my family at a time when really needed her guidance.
She was a wonderful mentor and inspiration to my son, who was one of her students.
I loved seeing her at concerts and chatting afterwards and will always remember her with appreciation. She glowed with humor and strength and made everyone feel so special.
Please accept my heartfelt love and good wishes.

Carla - I so regret not getting together all those times we talked about it, but never seemed to find the time. You were such a support to me during a tough time both professionally and personally. You always inspired me to be a better person and counselor. You gave so much to others and I will never forget your wall devoted to students lost to drugs and alcohol. They lived on through you and you will live on through us. I will miss your e-mails which were always the first to be opened. To your family, I am so sorry for your devastating loss. She will continue to live on in all those she touched, but that is small comfort now as you try to cope with your loss. My heart goes out to you. Geri McClenny

Although I never stayed in contact with my fellow classmates it was great to see her at the last reunion and sorry she could not make it to AZ for the gathering a few of her classmates had. There were great times in high school that I will never forget with her.Even the time I wrecked my car right in front of her house at the corner. To Carla's family, I am shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. I reconnected with Carla on Facebook last year. She was my music teacher my senior year at Gretna High School (1969) and I was her accompanist as well as a singer. I had told her that I became a church choir director and that she had inspired me to always be involved with music. I was looking forward to a face to face meeting at some time and I am sad that won't happen. My sympathies to you all. She was a great lady.

Carla, even though we didn’t keep much contact after high school, except for an occasional e-mail or class reunion, I have such fond memories that come to mind: The nights I went to your house for you to help me with studies (YOU certainly didn’t need it); the occasional slumber party at my house you could attend; the long walks we had because neither of us could get our father’s cars very often; the double date you arranged for me (I can’t remember his name), when he bought me a bag of popcorn and I thought I had to eat it all, but you leaned over and said I didn’t have to eat it all –I was disturbing the movie! Oh, the noon hours at St. Joe School when you taught me simple dances and movements to music as well as accompanying you on the piano with a little “Blue Moon” or “Chop-Sticks” to play with your elaborate music on the other side of the piano. Once you thanked me for showing you how to accent the bottom eyelashes with mascara. We had lots of laughs! Bruce and family I wish to offer my sincere condolences to you. Also, to ‘Cookie’ Beardmore. I am truly saddened for your loss and I will keep each of you in my prayers as well as pray for eternal rest for the soul of Carla.
Lovingly, Sr. Barbara (Nancy) Roach.

TO ALL THOSE WONDERFUL PEOPLE POSTING: On behalf of Carla's family, THANK YOU so very much for your thoughtful and heart-warming condolances. Although tear-jerking, reading these posts are the perfect medicine. Carla was our rock-star. Who she was to you, she was to us. She loved her work, and you, her "kids" were her work. We are so infinitely proud of her, and now, reading these, we appreciate even more how much she meant to the countless lives she so positively affected. God puts people in our lives for a specific purpose. And God takes them away sometimes too. Painful as it is, but it is for a purpose. HIS purpose. Carla will be forever memorialized by the seemingly endless number of young men and women she so tirelessly and relentlessly sought recovery for. You can do your part by staying clean and healthy, for you, and for her. Again, THANK YOU to you all from the Beardmore's. We love you too.

My cousin Carla! We never really got to know each other very well once my family moved from Kansas to Texas, but I have fond memories of Carla...I got the most amazing email from Carla when my dad was sick and dying. It was such a blessing to me, and helped me a lot. As I sit here this evening and read all these wonderful tributes to Carla, I am not surprised by the kind of loving, caring, giving person that she was. I know she will be missed by so many. Carla, you were not only my mentor, but my friend. You were also family in my eyes. Like a favorite Aunt, who watched over me and gave me advice and love. You had the most beautiful blue eyes that we could just see through to your beautiful soul. Your eyes were honest and genuine because your heart was pure. Our hearts may only be the size of our fists, but I swear yours was the size of the moon. You helped me thru tough times from middle school to high school and then some. I am so glad we reconnected. Your status' on facebook were so witty and funny. Theres just not enough words to say how wonderful you were. I don't know where you found the time to touch so many peoples lives' but you did. I will miss you sooo much and I love you with all my heart. I wish we would have had that lunch we were planning because I could really use one of your hugs. I can't believe your gone. My heart aches for your family and friends, and selfishly for myself wanting you back with us. God has received a unique angel and I know you will be watching over us. I hope that someday I can be as good of a woman as you were. I will never forget you.. I love you.. and may you go with God and continue letting your beautiful soul shine. muah* (really want one of your hugs right now)

She made my day better when i would go to school and see her there she always had a smile on her face at all times. I know that heaven recieved a great angel, and shell still be watching us all.
