Preceded in death by parents, James and Leone McManus; brother, James "Jim" McManus; sister, Helen Ericsen; and parents-in-law, Leo and Irene Timmerman. Survived by wife, Mary Jean (Timmerman) McManus; sons, Dr. John "Jack" McManus (Anand) of Durango, CO, and Kevin McManus (Tracy Tondl) of Omaha; daughter, Mimi McManus Mollner of Omaha; 6 grandchildren, Maddie and Macy Mollner, Leo John and Torrey Jean McManus, Emmett Red and Esme Rose McManus; loving and caring brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and the "Creighton Family" in Omaha and around the USA. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Christ the King Education Fund; Creighton University Championship Center; or the St. Robert Bellarmine-Father Shane Education Fund.
VISITATION begins Thursday, August 1, at 5pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, with VIGIL SERVICE to follow at 7pm at the Church. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL Friday, August 2, at 10am at Christ the King Church. Entombment, Calvary Mausoleum. HEAFEY-HEAFEY-HOFFMANN

I just loved Uncle Red. He was a great man so respected in the community. I will miss talking to him at family holidays. He loved being around the family and we loved being around him. Dear Mary Jean, Jack, Kevin, Mimi,
Candy and I extend our deepest condolences to you during this difficult time. My classmates and I were blessed to not only witness big time exciting hoops under Red, but blessed to know him as a super person as he was very visible and approachable on campus. I also remember visiting him at his office (when he was also Athletic Director) and one could count the Staff Members on the fingers of one hand. And he taught classes. He did it all. On the court, a tenacious competitor. Off the court, you couldn't find a more gentle, caring, big hearted human being. Red, we will always have a very special place for a very special guy in our hearts. Thanks for ALL you did for
Creighton Hoops, CU Athletics, and Dear Ol' CU.

Red was head coach and AD when I was a freshman at Creighton- for me he'll always be the ultimate face of Creighton athletics. All of us- fans, alums, staff and students- owe him a great deal for where the University is today in athletics.

So deeply sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Growing up in the neighborhood, I will always remember what a nice man Mr McManus was and how caring and devoted he was to his family and faith. I still remember Mr McManus ushering at Christ the King church for Sunday Mass when I was a kid. Cherish the wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. I had him as a teacher at CU whenI was a student there and he taught me a great deal and is a big reason why I got into teaching and coaching.I was always happy to see him at the CU games up until he was no longer able to attend earlier this year.Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.HE WAS A GREAT MAN
