Kurt Powers Obituary
October 3, 1961 - January 29, 2024
Kurt was diagnosed with cancer on January 5, 2024, and passed away on January 29, 2024. He was born in Wayne, NE. Kurt graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in computer science. He spent over 37 years working for Alegent Health, CommonSpirit Health as a systems analyst in the Information Systems department. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, biking, fly-fishing with his brothers in Wyoming and spending winter months in Florida with his wife, Jill. As a good friend shared, "No one had more fun that Kurt Powers."
Kurt leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Jill Powers; his mother, Nancy Jo Powers, of Wayne; brothers, Mark (Julie) Powers, of York, NE, and Ross Powers, of Wichita, KS; brother-in-law, Todd Moon, of Waukon, IA; and two nephews, Miles Powers, of Kansas City and Tim (Mariah) Moon, of Decorah, IA; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Powers, of Wayne; and in-laws, Ron and Jackie Moon, of Harlan, IA.
A drop-in CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at The View on State, 13467 State St., Omaha, on Saturday, February 17th, from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Memorial gifts in Kurt's name can be sent to the Nebraska Games and Parks Commission, 2200 North 33rd Street, Lincoln, NE 68503.

I am so sorry for your loss. You were there with me
15 years ago when I lost Harry and I wished I could have been there with the loss of Kurt. I will be there on Saturday. Harry and Kurt were good friends and they are together again playing golf and having a cold one. My love and prayers are with you always.

I had the pleasure of working with Kurt for many years. He was a great guy, not only very capable in his work but always a pleasure to talk to. My condolences go out to the family.

Kurt was a good man and will be missed. He was my boss in the early 1990´s If he had not had a chance to eat that day due to work kept him very busy. I would find him having a soda and a candy bar. His wife Jill and he had no kids at that time so with their kind hearts for Christmas they sort of adapted the kids that lived next door to them by getting them presents to make their Christmas even more memorable Kurt believed in 2nd chances He was that guy Not really judging but helping if he could He hardly ever threw his weight around. More of a team player with leadership For anyone´s life he touched He is memorable and we are thankful we knew him
