April 17, 1936 - November 4, 2022
Preceded in death by her husband, William S. Matthews.
She is survived by her sister, Veronica Dodd; her children: Amy Matthews and partner Paul Santomenna of Freeport, ME; Hope Matthews, husband Shaun Cassidy, and their children, Lucy Amelia Cassidy and Felix William Cassidy of Rock Hill, SC; and Robert E. Lee and Margaret of Omaha.
Born in Omaha, Sandy studied and worked in California and Chicago, IL before returning to Omaha to become deeply involved in the art and theater community until moving to Rock Hill, SC six years ago. She attended Duchesne Academy and Duchesne College.
MEMORIAL SERVICES will be held on Sunday, November 20, at 2pm at Park Pointe Village; and on February 11, 2023 in Omaha NE.
Memorials are suggested to Babies Project (www.babiesproject.org); or Victory Gardens International (www.growwithvictory.org).

I hit submit too quickly, sorry this looks like 2 messages. I'm writing this on Christmas morning 2022. I am so grateful to have been a friend of Sandy and Bill, I wish Hope and Amy and family much joy as you endure this Christmas without Sandy, as well as without Bill. Both of your parents were so genuine and compassionate and both, especially Sandy, had the best wicked wit & humor and made life always fun, throughtout all of their great gifts to the community of life. Sandy & Bill hosted myself and friends at their home during a time of grief as 2 Chicagoans transplanted to Omaha died of AIDS during the late 1980s. God bless the Matthews family. I will always be grateful for Sandy´s efforts on behalf of persons with AIDS during the early days of the pandemic. She brought practical support and comfort to many. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Matthew daughters - your mom and dad were wonderful patrons of the arts, especially Opera Omaha when I was singing in the chorus for many years. I can still see you two backstage with your father as he did his thing with the scenery, etc. Sandy was always kind to me and always had words of encouragement. RIP Sandy. You will be missed!! Condolences Amy and Hope!!
