Sharon Alyce Lazzaretti

September 28, 1937 - August 26, 2024

Sharon Alyce (McCoy) Lazzaretti, 86, of Omaha, Nebraska, died in Dallas, TX on August 26, 2024.

Sharon was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Earl and Alyce McCoy on September 28, 1937. She was active in swimming and theater, graduating from North High School in 1955. She attended University of Nebraska School of Nursing, earning a BSN in 1960. She met her husband, Anthony (Tony), on a blind date the summer before his graduation from the Naval Academy. They were married December 28, 1961 and enjoyed military life, living around the US and overseas.

Together they raised three children, Anthony (Tony), Victor and Laurene. Following her son Tony's TBI in 1983, her nursing background allowed her to help rehabilitate him beyond what the medical community felt was possible. She continued to be a brain injury advocate for him and the survivor community for the remainder of her life. In later years, she and her husband, Tony, traveled extensively around the world and following 30 years in Andover, Massachusetts, retired back to Omaha, Nebraska until Tony's passing in 2016.

Sharon is survived by her three children, Tony, Victor and Laurene, Laurene's husband David (Richards) as well as five grandchildren, Fiona, Eliza and Victor Lazzaretti and Anthony (Tony) and Kaelyn Richards. She is also survived by her younger brother, Walter McCoy, of Omaha, Nebraska; and his two sons, Walter and Alex.

SERVICES will be held later in the fall in Omaha, Nebraska.
