Brian J. Cook

Oneida-Brian J. Cook, age 24, of Elizabeth Street passed away unexpectedly Friday morning November 11, 2022 at his home. He was born on May 27, 1998 in Oneida, New York a son of Brian M. Cook and Kristen M. Peck and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools. Brian enjoyed listening to all genres of music, including oldies, rock or rap. He also had an eye to be able to identify any make of an automobile.At the age of thirteen Brian was injured in an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury from which he developed epilepsy and this event changed his entire life. From that day on his mother and grandmother advocated for Brian to help him be the best he could be but the programs needed to help Brian were far and few tobe found. But they persevered and Brian made an effort to be everyone's friend. Surviving are his mother, Kristen M. Cook of Oneida, father, Brian M. (Rebecca) Cook of Albany, two sisters, Rosalie Cook of Oneida and Angella Colon of Oneida, step-brother Devin Stricos, maternal grandparents, David and Bernadette Peck of Vernon, a close uncle David Jr. (Jamie) Peck of Oriskany Falls, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Brian was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Julia Bristol and Michael K. (Kathy) Cook. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday November 16, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Inc. 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Thursday in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY.
