Edwin Benedict Obituary
He was born May 20, 1919 in Georgetown, a son of Zar and Belle Niles Benedict. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School and Cornell University with a degree in agriculture. On April 2, 1939, Jerry married Alta E. Mosher in Hamilton, who predeceased him on Aug. 2, 1995. During WWII, he helped to man the watch tower in Georgetown. Jerry was a man of many talents who enjoyed several occupations. He started out on the family farm in Georgetown, was a builder, contractor and developer who constructed homes, apartment buildings and a mobile home park. He was the assistant manager of GLF/Agway for over 30 years, until his retirement, and was also an independent insurance agent. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was beloved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Jerry was a long time member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton. He was also 4-H leader at one time.
Surviving are his children, Faith and Dick Stewart of Ravena, N.Y.; Dr. L. Kirk Benedict of Federal Way, Wash.; Keith and Kaeko Benedict of London, England; Clyde Benedict of Hamilton; Clayton and Gail Benedict of Cortland; daughter in-law, Susan Benedict of Cortland; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Carl Benedict, a brother, Zar Benedict, Jr., and two sisters, Winifred Quinn and Marie Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.
Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton in the spring.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

So sad to hear of "Jerry's" passing. He and my father were quite a team managing the GLF/Agway in Munnsville. He was also my insurance agent when I was in NYS. Deepest condolences to the family.
