Jane S. Porter

PORTER, JANE S., passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007 at age 88 at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, she graduated in 1937 from Penns Grove Regional High School in New Jersey and attended Goldey Beacom Business School in Wilmington. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, R. Craig Porter. As they raised their family, they had the opportunity to live in various parts of the country due to Mr. Porter's position with the DuPont Company. They eventually settled in Hendersonville, North Carolina where she was a licensed realtor and she and her husband owned and operated Porter Realty Company. She was a homemaker, a Red Cross nurse during World War II and member of the Eastern Star. She excelled at golf and was an avid bridge player. She was an active member of St. James's Episcopal Church in Hendersonville and served on the Alter Guild for many years. She will be sadly missed by her survivors, son, James and his wife Margaret Porter of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; daughter, Claire and her husband William Campbell of Clermont, Florida. She was very close to her grandchildren, Craig Campbell of Bradenton Florida, Todd Campbell of Graniteville, South Carolina, Jane Benton of Raeford, North Carolina and her six great grandchildren. A memorial service and interment will be at Saint James Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina at a later date.
