Otey Parcell Obituary

Otey W. Parcell, Jr. (Alan to his colleagues and friends) died peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Nov 24, 2020.

Born 1945 in Huntington, WV moved to Arvada, CO with his parents Otey and Mary (LaCock) Parcell. He attended the University of Colorado School of Journalism in Boulder where he received several outstanding Journalist and Broadcasting Association honors and awards.

Alan's professional 44-year career consisted of working as News Director and Bureau Chief for national broadcasting television medias. Retiring in 1999 from CBS News in New York and then again in 2010 from WKMG-TV in Orlando, FL.

Alan is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen T. Parcell; three sons Matthew A. (Jennifer) Parcell of Oviedo, FL; Jared S. (Coleen) Parcell, of Fort Wayne, IN; Jason D. Parcell, of Austin TX. Stepsons: Haywood L. (MaryAnn) Thomson, of Winter Park, FL; Kevin B. (Jacque) Thomson, of Denver, CO. Grandchildren: Hayley, Daniella, and Austin, of Oviedo FL; and Preston and Avery, of Fort Wayne, IN.

His mother, father and wife, Susan Wadman Parcell preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Alan's Life will be held in the Spring of 2021, to be announced. Please visit www.degusipe.com to leave a message of condolence.
